Not even the Pope Benedict XVI is immune to gossips regarding his look. Esquire magazine chose him as “the man of accessories” once. Italian Association for the Defense of Animals and the Environment, which logo is a white bunny, has made a petition online that has been signed by 1,900 people to ask the Pope to stop wearing fur.
Il Corriere della Sera published photos of the Pope and John XIII with a cape and a hat decorated with stoat plus a real stoat.
A stoat is an animal with white skin that has been used to decorate crowns, head-dresses for ceremonies and royal dresses during several centuries. For instance, the Pope worn a cape and a hat made of stoat on Christmas 2005 that made him look like Santa Claus, something that photographers loved.
The online petition seems to appeal to his love for cats and other animals rather than his fashion style. In fact, he authorized a biography told by a cat: “Chico and Joseph”. This story is based on a cat called Chico who lived with the Pope in Germany when he was known as Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger.
